As we head into the April school holidays and get ready to be surrounded by lots of chocolate, our staff are gearing up to spend their holidays cooking up a storm at our Early Links Ashtonfield office.
The school holidays are always a draw card for cooking group activities. These sessions provide a fun and educational experience for children aged 6-12, led by a multidisciplinary team, including Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Allied Health Assistants.
The program offers a supportive small group setting where participants engage in food preparation activities that focus on food exploration, skill development, and an understanding of cooking principles.
In addition to cooking, the sessions promote various skills such as reading, listening, task planning, peer collaboration, social interaction, following instructions, sensory regulation, and safe use of kitchen tools. Favorite recipes among participants include taco cups, burgers, and Easter chocolate egg nests.
