Early Links is proud to announce the rollout of our new Interdisciplinary Feeding Clinic. The IFC offers specialist feeding support to children, teens and adults, in both individual and group programs, for clients who experience feeding challenges. The IFC could be of benefit to:
- Families who report mealtimes are stressful
- People who are fussy eaters
- People with limited diets
- People who avoid food
- People with any other issues around eating and mealtimes
What is the Interdisciplinary Feeding Clinic
The IFC is a collaboration between Early Links speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and dietitians. It involves a comprehensive assessment and goal-setting session with participating clients and the important people in their lives. Together we determine whether group or individual therapy sessions will be most appropriate.
What’s involved
Our interventions are based on evidence-based programs such as the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach, Division of Responsibility and Responsive Feeding Therapy. The 8-week intervention block focuses on the client’s feeding skills and mealtime education.
Participants in the groups will be given opportunities to explore different foods in a safe and supportive environment. Caregivers will be given the tools to support feeding journeys and reduce mealtime stress.
