On Friday 20th March, ConnectAbility proudly celebrated a major milestone for 2026: the 10th anniversary of our Annual Golf Day fundraiser.
For the past decade, ConnectAbility has brought together local business partners, donors, and community champions for a relaxed day on the green – raising funds and awareness for our work supporting thousands of people each year who live with disability.
Despite an early forecast of rain, the day delivered nothing but blue skies, sunshine, and great spirits. Laughter, friendly competition, and outstanding sportsmanship filled the course, making this our most successful Golf Day to date. We welcomed 124 players, along with additional supporters who joined us off the course to celebrate and contribute to the day’s success.
This year was especially meaningful as we marked 10 years of Golf Day celebrations, alongside 14 years of partnership with our valued event donor: Newcastle Office Interiors (NOI) – thank you for your ongoing commitment and generosity.
The day kicked off with fresh morning brews, courtesy of the team at Crema Coffee, before guests climbed into golf carts and headed out to the stunning Waratah Golf Club, enjoying pristine greens as the competition got underway.
There was no shortage of entertainment thanks to our incredible sponsors. Keeping up tradition, we had Jezweb’s Dino Racing, hosted alongside our ConnectAbility CEO, the Magnus All Property Service Funniest Photo competition was popular, delivering a music soundtrack to match the energetic atmosphere. Our drink cart sponsors, Andersen Pest Services and DABS Plumbing, and lunch sponsor Supply First Aid kept everyone refreshed as the sun shone down on an unforgettable day.
One of the most hotly contested moments was the “Closest to the Pin” challenge, run by our very own ConnectAbility team. In a remarkable outcome, two players tied for first place, sharing $1k in prize money, generously donated by JD Electrical.
While we congratulate the winning team on their well‑earned victory, the true winners were the people supported by ConnectAbility. With over $20,000.00 raised through ticket sales and a record‑breaking auction that set a new high winning bid, the impact of the day will be felt well beyond the day.
