We are thrilled to share exciting news – Dr Karla Seaman, ConnectAbility Executive Lead Community Living, has been named a finalist in the 2025 Australian Disability Service Awards (ADSA)!
Karla’s nomination was based on her knowledge and expertise, which are both impressive and impactful. With a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology and a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology, she is a distinguished researcher who has dedicated her career to exploring the real-world implications of policy reforms on health service delivery and health outcomes. Her work bridges evidence and practice, ensuring that policies don’t just look good on paper but genuinely improve people’s lives.
Karla’s valuable contributions to the disability sector have been acknowledged as she has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Best Sector Impact award for the 2025 Australian Disability Service Awards. Award winners will be announced and celebrated at a black-tie gala dinner at Pullman Hotel Albert Park, Melbourne on Thursday, 13 November. We will be cheering for her!
Karla explains: “I am honoured to be named a finalist in these awards and deeply grateful to be surrounded by such dedicated team members and support workers. Together, we share a common goal of providing the best possible support to our customers. It is only with their ongoing support and collaboration that I have been able to achieve these outcomes.”
This prestigious award celebrates individuals who have created lasting, positive change within the disability ecosystem. It recognises changemakers who challenge systemic barriers, drive bold improvements in policy and practice, and consistently centre people with disability in their work. Karla embodies all of these qualities, and her influence is felt across communities, teams and the broader sector.
The 2025 ADSA promises to be a remarkable event. Proudly presented by One Community and Kismet, the Awards are one of the leading industry celebrations, recognising excellence across thirteen categories. Now in its fifth year, ADSA continues to grow in prestige, shining a light on the good stories in the sector and honouring the unsung heroes who go above and beyond to deliver exemplary services through the NDIS.
